Aug 2004 - All Done...

So this is it... After 4 days of digging the money has run out...
This view is from the building lot that is for sale... wanna buy a 1 acre Building Lot? frnkgmbk@renfrew.net

There seems to be a reasonable flow of water, but I don't expect that the pond will be completely full until the spring.
This view is from the bush toward the building lot...
The truck in the upper left gives you a sense of scale.

The pond is some what "L" shaped and this is the leg that swings around behind the pines in the shot from the lot into the bush...
There are deer tracks down to the water and several frogs are taking up homes.

This is a pile of the blue clay that is on the bottom layer of the pond.
I've taken a bucket load back up to the house and dumped it behind a barn for future use.
I'm curious to see if it can be fired in the blast furnace like pottery clay. Also I'd like to dry out a quantity and add it to my foundry sand to see if it improves the surface finish of castings.

This is a vein of sand that I spied in the pile...
In fact this end of the pond has a deep 2 ft layer of sand at the 2 to 3 ft level beneath the surface.
If I find time, I may sift a few barrels from this pile before the bull-dozers come in to level, or will simply dig out as much as I need as required in the future.
The next update will be the landscaping and leveling of the earth piles on the sides, and the relative water depth as times goes by... I personally will feel much better once there is water within a foot or two of the top.
