Oil Tank'r Recycling...

This is a last picture of the flat deck that was made in the summer of 2001.
It has stood-up remarkably well and likely could last another 3 years and still be in the same condition.
But it's time for a change...

I've been watching for the 2005's and "Short-Boxes" are all the rage.
So in an effort to keep the bush-buggy current and trendy I've cut back the decking to make an extreme Short-Box.

This tank has been in storage in a field for at least 20 years, as we just replaced our tank and it was 20 years old (it now sits in the same field to be seasoned like this one...).
Comparatively the tank just installed appears to be made of tin-foil, and likely will need to be replaced in ten years, such is progress.
I dragged this tank over to the drive-shed, as I thought it sacrilegious to expect the truck to carry it on the deck just before it was to be cut away.
The tank will eventually be made into the dump-box for the bush-buggy.
I used a chalk line to scribe the cut-line and ran around the tank with a "Walter Zip-Cut", yes that was a Walter Zip-Cut!!!
Attention Walter Corp., please send me some Zip-Cut discs (4 1/2" 7/8ths arbor) as they are such a superior product (seriously, send them...).

The top that has been cut away is being prepared to be added to the bottom of the box to add strength and rigidity.
Again all the cutting and welding prep was done with the amazing Walter Zip-Cut... Gosh, aren't those folks at Walter Corp swell...
The tank is becoming less wobbly but definitely heavier.
The top sides (not shown) are re-enforced with 1/8" angle iron (retreived from the land-fill).
The bottom is being bolted and stitch welded.
In closing this project has been planned since the day I got the back-hoe, and has turned over in my head like a ball-mill slowly grinding down a powder.
