A minor diversion from real work...

I never did like that bumper...
It's been bent hitting stationary objects, and twisted pulling stuck vehicles...
Having 3 S-series GMC vehicles and knowing what almost 20 years of rust can do, I opted to simply cut the bolts right off the front of the bumper... not pretty but it only took a few minutes per bolt, and I never skinned a knuckle or broke a sweat.

After browsing a real garage sale (litterly garage type equipment - tools and parts)... I spied this brush bar for the princely sum of $2.00 Canadian...
It took a bit of fabricating of heavy 1" steel spacers and drilling a few new holes in the frame but seems to fit fine...
My next trip into town will be for the proper grade bolts with lock washers, but it's quite rigid with the mild steel holding it together.

I'm trying different placement options for lights and making a template to weld in for this small winch...
I don't care for the current arrangement, as the lights are too low and likely to be busted before the month is out...
Also the steel fixtures I made for the frame mounting need to be trimmed to get the winch level...
The idea is to add a small home made plow before the winter, as I've had enough of the open tractor in minus 20 degree weather
Sandy (my ever so excellent wife) procured this military foot box for me a few years ago and it has seen considerable use...
I did consider the historic value of the box, even thought to search out the family (if any) of the original owner...
No time... nice idea, but I need the box, and am not about to give over at this point...

And here it sits with 3 coats of thick Rust inhibiting high gloss Black... Cheap and utilitarian!
The lid had a large puncture that was patched with Fiberglass re-enforced body fill and sanded flat.

It doesn't get much better than this...
Everything I need fits neatly into the box, and it is kept dry from the elements...
The chainsaw is never so heavy as it is at the end of the day and being carried into the garage...
